Welcome to my research web page!
I am an Associate Professor at the Department
of Computer Engineering at Bilkent University. I received my B.S. and M.S. degrees
in computer engineering from Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey, in 1999 and 2001,
respectively, and my Ph.D. degree in computer science from Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute, New York, in 2005. I was visiting Stanford University in Spring 2013 and
Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, in Fall 2009. I am
a member of the professional societies of IEEE and ISCB, and a member of the alumni of
Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Bogazici University, and Ankara Science High School.
My main research interests and projects include development of
new bio-computational models and application of machine learning, deep learning, and
computer vision algorithms for medical image analysis.
In my research group at Bilkent, we have focused on the microscopic analysis of histopathological images
at the tissue level and in vitro fluorescence and live cell images at the cellular level.
We have also been working on the analysis of in vivo CT and MR images. Our research topics include:
- Machine learning
- Deep learning
- Semantic segmentation
- Classification
Please contact me for possible positions
available in our group.
