From Genome to Function to Variation

Yale UniversityWith the recent advances in DNA sequencing technologies, study of genomics is becoming one of the fastest developing research areas. One of the main aims of the research on human genomics is developing methods to accomplish personal genomics using integrative approaches. With the recent completion of the current phase ENCODE project we have unprecedented amount of data to accomplish this task. In this presentation, I will first briefly summarize the experimental protocols for generating the genomic, transcriptomic, and regulation datasets.
Then I will present a pipeline that we developed for identifying the allele specific events in the genome by combining these datasets.
Bio: Arif Ozgun Harmanci got his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Bilkent University in 2004. He got his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Rochester in 2010 under supervision of Prof. Gaurav Sharma and Prof. David H. Mathews. Currently, he is a postdoctoral associate at Yale University working with Prof. Mark Gerstein.
