Crystal Structure Derivation for Non-Molecular Material

Determining crystal structure of a material is a quite important issue in chemistry and material science. Knowing the crystal structure helps to understand physical behavior of material. Accordingly determining the possible crystal structures for any given material is quite useful for new material design. Determining crystal structure problem also includes a more general problem, sphere packing. Sphere packing is an old problem which is important for many areas such as coding theory, information science and industry. We propose a heuristic approach to crystal structure derivation problem which can give good results in reasonable runtime.
