This talk will discuss the computer science and engineering research supported by the US National Science Foundation. The Foundation as a whole and several of its units are involved in such research. The talk will describe the existing programs and initiatives as well as the planned future activities relevant to the field. The focus will be on the work in the computer science directorate and the computer-communications research division.
