Categorisation is an aspect of linguistics, cognitive science and philosophy which also has important implications for Artificial Intelligence. This talk will use the categories "woman" and "girl" (and their Turkish equivalents) as a benchmark to test three models of categorisation: the traditional feature-based semantic model, prototypesemantics, and my own proposed model which attempts to combine elements of both of these.
