ITT WD Publitec is the R&D, information systems development and data services center for the ITT World Directories units around the world. Held the following positions:

October 1994 - March 1995: Reusability Manager

Responsible from the management of the Reusability Project. This project covers the improvement of the reusability standards and procedures, identification of the reusable components, construction of a corporate reusability infrastructure and guidance to project groups for reuse. The corporate reusability infrastructure consists of a repository of the reusable components and an inventory system to search and access this repository.

The purpose of this project is to increase the productivity of software development in ITT Publitec and enable development of coherent and standard software products.

Had first hand experience with Oracle 7 CDE tools such as SQL*Plus, SQL*Loader, Oracle*Forms, etc.

September 1991 - September 1994: Project Leader and Project Coordinator

Prepared project proposals and project plans, handled customer relations, worked in project coordination, performed requirements gathering, systems analysis, design, implementation and installation in the Thomas Register Europe (formerly Pan European Directory) Project. Planned and supervised the development of the TRE (Thomas Register Europe) Preparatory System software.

Familiarized with Geographical Information Systems (GIS). Prepared project plan for a Mapping prototype system, analyzed how GIS can be used in Yellow Pages (YP) business. Obtained hands-on experience with a GIS: MapInfo system.

Analyzed and developed the Change Control System (CCS) for recording, tracking and managing the software change requests and bug reports.

Analyzed and developed the Time Registration System (TRS) for recording the time sheets of employees both for project management and accounting purposes. CCS and TRS were utilized in ITT Publitec BV for several years.

During this period, took part in the Quality Circles for work towards establishing and applying "Software Development Quality Procedures" in the company. As a result of these works, ITT Publitec got an "ISO 9001" certificate.

January 1991 - August 1991: Member of Publimedia-Publitec Taskforce

The taskforce was set up by the ITT WD Headquarters in Brussels because of serious management problems in ITT WD Netherlands. The taskforce consisted of 8 high potential middle managers and reported directly to a Senior Vice President of ITT WD Brussels. During the taskforce period, the taskforce had full decision power on all IS matters, company organizational structure and working procedures.

The objective was to satisfy ITT Publimedia as a user of the ADTEC system and to solve the serious communication problem between the two companies. Identified and prioritized problems, formed work groups which consisted of users and analyst/programmers, solved the reported problems.

The taskforce was considered very successful by ITT WD Headquarters in Brussels at the end of their task period.

April 1990 - January 1991: Group Leader

Coordinated and managed the development of the DA inquiry subsystem in the Automated Directory Assistance System (ADAS) project. Analyzed, designed and developed ADAS/LUF (Listing Update Facility) System.

Analyzed, designed and developed the FORM package, a general purpose screen/form handling package with extensions to handle screen monitoring.

During the same period, became member of ITT Bilka Turkish Database Taskforce.

January 1987 - March 1990: Technical Consultant, Systems Analyst

Contracted by S.E.T. ALCATEL (Standard Electric and Telecommunications Ltd.) to work as technical consultant in systems analysis, design and development.

Worked in VAX/VMS environment on a cluster of VAX systems. Designed systems, databases, applications, and programmed using C, COBOL, FORTRAN, VIP (4GL) and DCL.

Developed tools for YP Database Maintenance. Used DRS (Data Retrieval System) database package.

Analyzed, designed and co-implemented Software Customization Package for telephone directory softwares, YP (Yellow Pages) Canvass Preparation Package, Data Clean-up Package and Production Schedule Control Package.

Worked in customization, testing and debugging of a directory software package: DOSS (Directory Operations Support System).

Analyzed, designed and implemented software packages for White Pages and Government Pages for Turkey. These packages include conversions, normalizations, abbreviations, grouping, database update applications, block update applications, conversion to pre-pagination format, post-pagination to Typesetter conversion.

Built experience in Automated Pagination System (APS).
