CS466 Assigned Projects

Kamer Kaya and Emre Karakoc [May 10th, 2002, 1st Presentation]

Improving an existing animation system for shadow play (Karagoz). The project requires putting together a couple of pieces of the software together to make it a tool for Shadow Play, like hierarchy editor, animation tool etc. Then, the project should be used to produce a realistic animation of the shadow play (according to a complete scenario). The project will be done on SGI Octane Workstation.

Ali Kemal Sinop [May 10th, 2002, 2nd Presentation]

Deformation of a generic face model for modeling and animating face models of individuals. At the end, the project should be ported to SGI Octane Workstation.

Yigithan Dedeoglu [May 14th, 2002, 1st Presentation]

Implementation of modeling and animation of articulated figures. You should define a generic articulated figure of acceptable complexity and use IKAN software developed in University of Pennsylvania for the analytical solution of inverse kinematics problem.

Namik Ozgur Aydin [May 17th, 2002, 1st Presentation]

Implementation of Escherization

Mete Takil and Emre Tapci [May 17th, 2002, 2nd Presentation]

Making extensions to a parallel hierarchical radiosity system. The extensions will be writing converter programs for large models to be used with our parallel hierarchical radiosity system, experimenting and measuring the performance of the system with large models, and debugging and correcting the programming errors in the code, if any.

Ozgur Cuhadar [May 21st, 2002, 1st Presentation]

Interactive 3D Landscape Editor: Using this editor, one can create his/her own landscape, watch it in real time. There will be a variety of different graphical viewing modes and save load facility. The objects will include some terrain types and objects and they will support animation. The graphical settings of the program will enable the user to alter the appearence. These settings will include lighting, fog, fluid and/or gaseous phenomena, texture mapping and animation. These facilities will be broadened if necessarry.
