Your Side In The Battle

The cyberspace is going through a metamorphose. What will come out, we do not know. The material in this book and in this review suggests that it will not be a heaven of liberty and information. Its genes hold multiple possibilities. We are to engineer its constitution. It is up to us whether freedoms we have valued in our constitutional past 17 will be protected in the cyberspace or will be given up on.

The war has already begun. If we resort to passivity in politics, we may well see our freedoms alleviated. We must take sides and fight now.

The free software community is at the front of this battle. We should strive for an intellectual commons that embraces the code of cyberspace. Left to companies, Internet will only assume more regulation. People should choose the constitution of the cyberspace.
