Bilkent ACM SIGART (Special Interest Group on Aritifical Intelligence)
Open meeting...
Interested in Artificial Intelligence?
Research in Artificial Intelligence (AI), viewed from a purely engineering perspective, simply attempts to produce better and better machines. The field boasts a number of very powerful techniques which are being used to solve difficult real world problems. At the same time, however, the question arises as to just how far these developments can go. Could we construct machines which rival human beings in terms of intelligence? Although it may not be possible today, is it at least a theoretical possibility? If it is possible, would such machines have feelings, emotions, minds?
join our discussion group
The Bilkent ACM Special Interest Group on Artificial Intelligence is a loose-knit group of faculty, graduate and undergraduate students interested in both the engineering and philosophical aspects of AI. Our weekly meetings are open to everyone. They provide a very informal meeting place for discussion of AI related topics. You don't need to be an expert to join in. Just come along.
Anyone interested in AI either professionally or for fun is invited to this first meeting of the 1998/1999 academic year. Besides getting to know each other, we will discuss possible activities for the coming year (in technical jargon, it's a meta-meeting!)
