Abstract: Do cognitive agents behave logically? On the face of it the answer must be "No", at least, not in the case of human beings. Yet, while other people's behaviour sometimes seems unfathomable to us, we generally tend to view our own acts as being entirely sensible. Some philosophers claim that agents must necessarily be logical. DAniel Dennett, for example, says that "logical behaviour is the hallmark of an intentional agent, illogical agents simply will not survive." So, perhaps logical behaviour is actually built-in to us. We not only behave logically, we even function logically too! What do you think? Come along and join in the discussion.
