Bilkent ACM SIGART (Special Interest Group on Artificial Intelligence)
In this talk, different sensing modalities for mobile robots such as sonar, infrared, inertial sensing and radar will be discussed with example sensing systems from current research. Advantages and disadvantages of different modalities will be discussed. To overcome these disadvantages and to obtain more robust information about the robot's environment, basic concepts of sensor data fusion and integration will be introduced.
