One of the events currently taking place to mark the 50th anniversary, one which demonstrates the remarkable achievements of the last half century and has a close connections with artificial intelligence research, is a chess match between the world's number one grandmaster Gary Kasporov and IBM's Deep Blue computer program. So far they are drawing with one game each. May the best "machine" win!
